Fireflies Frenzy
As dusk fades into night A firefly is blinking on the back screen door, It's a call I can't ignore As I step out the door Fireflies invade the night shade under a canopy of trees Prime time, prime place to be Behold the antics of a curious bug, excitation in illumination, theirs and mine laser tracers, neon racers darting, streaking tangents of light rapid blinkers on outgoing flights but sometimes they linger; hanging beams mid air, hanging lanterns in trees, gliding above the grass and frolicing in the fields sometimes, when they swarm, it's a neural storm each light a neuron firing in the gaps of synapse My skull cap tingles in this synchronous mirror sometimes they ascend gracefully slow, but oh hold on to that glow Or fall right out of the sky, micro meteors speeding to the ground Some will launch straight up to the treetops, to commune with the stars ___ You might also visit: Our Place In The Cosmos.com Canoe The Ozarks.com
