Contemplative Prayer Keeps Us In Tune

 When I was a child, I prayed on my knees

 hoping to appease, or just asking  pretty please

Say that prayer again, God's keeping score

Say it again, it's always at least one more

Say it again for grace to begin

If  you don't say it right, God will take flight

(magical thinking came early on)

Flash forward to present day...

Prayer is connecting with God/Ultimate Reality.

It is not an attempt to change God’s mind about us

or about events. Such arrogance is what unbelievers 

make fun of—and often rightly so.

Prayer is primarily about changing our own mind 

so that things like infinity, mystery, and forgiveness 

can resound within us.
